On October 14, 2003, officials from the Norwegian Maritime Directorate visited FOCUS Maritime Training Center on the occassion of Bilateral Joint Cooperation between The Norwegian and Indonesian Governments on Maritime Education and Training - the result of which will be then reported to IMO in anticipation of Indonesia's continued inclusion in the IMO's Whitelist.
During the visit, both the Indonesian Government and Norwegian Maritime Directorated agreed to sign Letter of Undertaking in conjunction with the Implementation of IMO's Regulation I/10 on Maritime Education and Training (especially Safety Training) and Certification of Seafarers.
While in Indonesia, officials from the Norwegian Maritime Directorate also had the opportunity to visit several Training & Education Centers, both public and private, with FOCUS being one of the very few private institutions visited by the Norwegian officials. FOCUS was the Institution of choice by the Norwegian Maritime Directorate due to its reputation for Quality Maritime Training and Education whereby courses are executed in accordance with IMO - STCW'95, in addition to having gained approvals nationally from the Directorate General of Sea Communications of The Republic of Indonesia, and internationally from PSB (Productivity Standard Board) of Singapore having granted both the ISO 9001:2000 and QMET (Quality Maritime Education & Training) qualifications to FOCUS Maritime Training Center.
